Hunting in Paludal Caverns

The Paludal Caverns is one of the best zones to hunt in for levels 10 to 20.

Most likely if you are a Vah Shir you will start from the entrance found in shadeweavers thicket. This guide will start from there. If you enter Paludal Caverns from Shadow Haven, try reading the guide in reverse to get to the Shadeweavers Thicket area. (Don't attempt it without a SOW and Invis or Camouflage though)

The first things you will come across are small shrooms, these can take you up to around level 11. Further on in you will come to mud borrowers and muck diggers. The diggers can go up to about level 14 as dark blue and the borrowers around 12. Becareful when fighting these as they will assist each other but the experience is worth the effort.

If you are fighting the muck diggers in the passages after the room full of little shrooms, you will find that at the end of this corridor, there is one passage going down, and to the left another passage going down.

The passage to the left has 3 shroom spawns, the large sensate reishi shrooms here can go up to level 19, and in both passages there is a single spawn Grime Tunneler, you will find these are good for after level 15. Becareful of the passage that continues down (not the shroom room) because at the end is a spawn of grimy owlbear cubs, these assist each other and are hard work for the experience.

After you've got bored with the shrooms and Grime Tunnelers you can fight the fiends in the rooms next to these passages. These have a nasty spreading crud (disease), it is similar to rabies but does more damage (around 3-4 per tick). If you aren't an Iksar, Troll or a class that can cast cure disease, it would be better to fight the shrooms until level 19 and then go to the bandit camps nearer the Shadow Haven zone.

The room full of fiends next to the shroom room, if you follow the wall to the left, you will come to another passage. In here are much tougher fiends, they can take you to level 24, becareful when camping them as the weaker fiends sometimes roam the passage. When you are finished with these, continue following the wall left, and you will come to a bandit camp. The bandit camp is suitable for around level 18 to 26, at 27 the experience will be too slow to stay in this zone.

High Keep is probably the most suitable zone to go to after Paludal Caverns.

Camp Locations:

Little Shrooms Room ( ST Zone area) (Levels 7-11)

Mud Borrower/Digger passages (ST Zone area) (Levels 9-15)

Large Shrooms Room - 3 Spawns (Levels 15-19)

Plerg Phlarg Fiends - Weaker Fiends (Levels 15-20)

Patog Phlarg Fiends - Stronger Fiends (SH Zone area) (Levels 18-24)

Bandit Camps (SH and HM Zone areas) (Levels 17-27)

Connected Zones:

Shadeweavers Thicket (ST)

Shadow Haven/Fordel Midst (SH)

Hollowshade Moor (HM)
