Starting Out as a Halfling (EQ Races)
Halflings start out in the city of
Rivervale. (Click
for more) It will be a bit confusing at first but you will soon
learn your way around.
The first thing to do is find your guild leader.
You should have started out fairly close to your guild if not in it. If you
right click on the 'tattered note' (note name and contents may be different
depends on starting guild), there will be a small paragraph detailing the name
of the guild your joining and who you are to report to. Look at the name of the
person and then set about finding them, they should be close by. Hand in the
note by left clicking it, placing it on the person, then left clicking again, a
window will pop up with the note displayed, press Trade if your sure its the
right person.
You will be given an item usually a tunic of some
sort, and then told either to start a small quest, or report to another person.
Its usually a good idea to write down the quest items or the name of who you
have to go. Before you continue with your starting quests, it might interest you
to look for some things to bash. First, right click on your guild master, then
on the menu that pops up, click on the weapon type you will be using. (Hold down
right click on the weapon you got at the start of the game and it will tell you
what type it is.) Then click Train 5 times (You are given 5 training points at
the start of the game). This will give you a skill of 5 in that weapon type, it
will help you to get started.
Now, exit your guild and explore until you find
the Priest of Discord, hes a tall human usually wearing a purple robe. (If you
zone into Kithicor Forest walk back to Rivervale by turning around and back the
way you came.) When you find him you should see two deputies guarding a large
passage. Walk down this passage and after awhile you will zone into Misty
Thicket.
Notice the two deputies standing near the passage
and the road leading ahead from the entrance. If you find yourself outnumbered
you can run to the deputies and they will assist you. Its best to stay near the
road so you can find your way back easily.
Open your inventory and put the weapon into your
left hand (primary melee slot). Then using the 'action buttons' on the bottom
right of your screen select Combat. When you left click on a monster (e.g bat,
snake etc), clicking the picture of your weapon in the combat menu will attack
it. Before you attack anything 'con' it by right clicking. This will tell you
how strong it is. If the text appears white or black, it is equal to your level,
if its blue it is below, if its yellow it is 1 or 2 above your level, if its red
it is many levels above you. Stick to equal or lower level cons for now.
After awhile you will gain enough experience to
level up and will hear a 'Ding', this gives you 5 more training points to use at
the trainer, and more hit points, mana (if your a casting class) and slightly
higher 'caps' (limits) on your skill ratings/levels.
Check with your trainer as you level up, to see
if you can train a new skill. You will see Level 4, Level 10, etc next to the
skill, left click on it and click Train if you meet that requirement, and you
will now be able to use that skill and to increase its rating/level.
