Starting Out as an Iksar (EQ Races)

The Iksar starting city is fairly large and will have everything you need to get started. This is a good thing as it will be one of only a few cities you are able to trade in.

First thing to do is hand in your guild note to the guildmaster. If you right click the note it should tell you who that is. On doing this you should receive an item and a quest. It is usually a good idea to use your first 5 training points (right click the guildmaster) on your primary weapon skill, this is usually the one that you receive an item for when you start your character. (sword for a Shadow Knight) If you know where to go you can follow your first quest, otherwise, read on.

The Field Of Bone is as good a starting place as any, it is a zone that you can reach from behind the castle, go slow and be careful of Froglok Slaves, they will attack and kill you. (The castle is the Shadow Knight/Shaman guild)

When you zone in you will see a road, follow the road down, until you come to some creatures that con black. (right click on the creature to find out)

Be careful which kind of creatures you attack as the scaled wolves and beetle types will both attack you on sight and gang up on you.

Fighting these creatures should take you to level 5, by which time you are ready to move on further away from the Guards to fight harder creatures. You should have a fair amount of gold now if you have been selling what you loot to the merchants. In the building to the right (if you are facing East Cabilis Entrance) you will find upstairs tucked behind a wall is a merchant selling patch hide armor. This is reasonably cheap and will provide you with some protection. Later on you can purchase Rhino hide from East Cabilis.

You should be well on your way to level 10 within a few more hours :).
