Is EverQuest PvP? (Player versus Player)

The majority of EverQuest servers are not PvP and are known as blue servers. When a character is created on these servers their name is highlighted in blue and they cannot be attacked or harmed by other players. If a player switches to red (by doing a small 'quest') they can then attack other red players, but ONLY other red players. The rules are slightly different on PvP designated servers, with some allowing combat between all players, some between certain races, some between certain deities (religion) etc.

How do I actually begin to attack something in EverQuest?

You click on them, get close enough to hit them with your melee weapons, then click the Auto Attack button on the User Interface.

How do I know if I am doing or receiving damage?

In a box on your User Interface you will see the text:

"You hit monster for 5 points of damage!"

If you are taking damage it will say:

"Monster hits YOU for 10 points of damage!"

In addition you will see an animation and a sound will play (though it probably won't be every time) when either party takes or attempts to inflict damage.

Can you really dual wield? (have a weapon in each hand)

Yes, but only certain classes. Those who can are Beastlords, Monks, Rangers, Rogues and Warriors.

Can you use any type of armour and any type of weapon?

Each class is only permitted to use certain weapons and armour. This usually results in some classes being unable to equip certain types (for example chain mail and piercing weapons)

How many types of armour are there in EverQuest?

Four main types which in order are: Cloth, Leather, Chain and Plate. If you can wear Chain you can usually wear Leather and Cloth and so on.

Cloth: Enchanters, Mages, Necromancers, Wizards

Leather: Beastlords, Druids, Monks

Chain: Berserkers, Rangers, Rogues, Shamans

Plate: Bards, Clerics, Paladins, Shadow Knights, Warriors

How many types of weapon are there in EverQuest?

1 Hand Blunt (1HB): clubs, maces

1 Hand Slash (1HS): axes, swords

Hand to Hand (H2H, Martial): claws, knuckle dusters

Piercing (1HP, Pierce, 2HP): daggers, spears

Note: There is no 2 hand piercing, the piercing skill includes both 2 handed and 1 handed piercing weapons

2 Hand Blunt (2HB): giant clubs, hammers, quarterstaffs, staves

2 Hand Slashing (2HS): large axes and swords, some halberds
