What is a No Drop item I keep hearing people refer to?

A No Drop item means you can't drop it on the floor or give it to other characters. They are usually quest rewards or powerful items that 'drop' from monsters when they are killed.

What is a Lore item?

Similar to No Drop, Lore is a setting or 'flag' applied to an item. It normally means the item is from a quest, not crafted. In addition a restriction is placed on them so that you cannot have two identical lore items in your possession. (so if you have a flaming sword of death you can't pick up or receive another flaming sword of death)

What is a Magic item?

A magic item is one that has a magical effect or enchantment, some creatures can only be hit by weapons deemed magical. Pets attacks will usually gain magical properties at an early level (for classes which have pets).

What does No Rent on an item mean?

A No Rent item will disappear from your characters inventory when you have log. There is an allowance of approximately 20 minutes where if you return the item should still be in your inventory but this shouldn't be relied on. Items that have No Rent markers include certain types of poison, some organs (such as venom sacs) and a few books found in The Plane of Knowledge.

What do people mean when they refer to an item as 'Rotting'?

When a monster dies its corpse appears near where it fell, this corpse can then be looted by other players taking whatever items are on it.

Note: this is only what items are placed there by the designers, if a monster dies with an axe it doesn't mean the axe will be on the corpse to loot.
